2006 John Tyler Pinot NoirOur first vineyard plantings of Pinot Noir were in 1964, since that time we have strived to produce the highest quality fruit, and our 2006 Pinot Noir is no exception. The bouquet is filled with a hint of valley floor followed by notes of vibrant strawberries, rosemary and thyme. The bright fruit is balanced by a touch of minerality and earth tones. This wine has a velvety and full bodied mid palate with a long lingering finish and hint of dryness that will soften with age. 689 cases produced.

2005 John Tyler ZinfandelAwarded 89 points from the Wine Enthusiast
“The vineyard is virtually in Dry Creek Valley, so it’s not surprising to find the briary, brambly intensity of that warm Sonoma appellation. It’s a good, lush, likeable Zin, brimming with wild berry, leather, tobacco and pepper spice flavors swimming in firm, dry tannins.”

Tasting Notes
Moderate temperatures through harvest allowed the development of deep, rich flavors and color, the ideal growing season. This wine exhibits notes of juicy boysenberry and black raspberry with slight earthy overtones. Vibrant fruit characteristics mingled with some spice. Full and concentrated in the mouth, the finish is thick, lush with building tannins and the promise of great age ability. 590 cases produced.

Harvest Information

Lot: 6 tons Duprat clone
The 2006 growing season was characterized by weather extremes and a larger than normal crop load. The unusually cool and wet weather in early spring caused a late start to the harvest. Prolonged and excessive July heat spikes were followed by cooler coastal weather in August, permitting a long hang time for optimal fruit maturity.
