Robert Parker

We are excited to share with you that two of our wines recently received 90+ points by Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate

2012 Bacigalupi Chardonnay

2012 Chardonnay“The medium to full-bodied 2012 Chardonnay Bacigalupi Vineyard exhibits crisp minerality along with notes of pineapple and orange blossom as well as a steely, wet gravel-like character with the oak pushed to the background. Enjoy it over the next 4-6 years.

Bacigalupi’s vineyard has an interesting history as the vines were grafted from the original vineyard that supplied the grapes for the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay. Readers may recall that this wine won the historic 1976 Paris tasting that in one day put California wines on the world’s map of quality. Bravo!” – Robert Parker

2012 Bacigalupi Pinot Noir

2012 Bacigalupi Pinot NoirBottled unfined and unfiltered, the 2012 Pinot Noir Bacigalupi Vineyard reveals a feeble light garnet color and an aromatic profile that is a dead-ringer for a Domaine Dujac, meaning plenty of forest floor, plum, anise and sweet currant scents. While it may look wimpy, it certainly doesn’t taste that way. The classic, Cote de Nuits-like flavors, soft tannins and abundant fruit suggest it should be drunk in its first 3-4 years of life. “- Robert Parker

2009 Zinfandel NEW RELEASE
2009 John Tyler Zinfandel
Bacigalupi Vineyards, Russian River Valley

2009 was a great year for Zinfandel in the Russian River Valley. This beautifully balanced wine has a classic raspberry jam aroma. Hints of cinnamon, cocoa and baking spices compliment the ripe, sweet red and dark fruits. Nice tannins finish broad and lush across the palate. The cool weather patterns of morning fog and warm afternoons helped keep a vibrant acidity which will contribute to its age-ability.

Duprat clone
Aged in 100% neutral French oak.

14.9% alcohol

New Release 2009 Pinot Noir

2009 Pinot NoirTASTING NOTES
The 2009 harvest was a notable year especially for Russian River Pinot Noir. Cool and mild weather caused slowing in maturity which leads to a wonderful and complex flavor profile. Our 2009 exhibits a dark garnet color. On the nose, a bouquet of fresh strawberries, currants and a hint of sandalwood. This wine has a full, opulent, yet robust mid palate and finishes with lush fruit essences and a subtle spice of clove.

Crop yields rebounded from the previous year as there was minimal frost damage in April. The summer was cool, extending the growing season right into verasion. Acidity levels were slightly higher than normal but with mostly moderate temperatures we were still able to achieve physiologically mature fruit. Rain and thunderstorms did make a small appearance this year in the middle of harvest but we were able to get the Pinot Noir fruit off the vines quickly with no issues.
